All Things Beauty

Get Ready With Me

So many of you have asked what I use on a day-to-day basis throughout the past couple months and instead of going through each step, what works and what doesn’t work… I thought I’d make it public so anyone and everyone can know what I’m using, what I recommend and even get ideas on what they can use! But before I dive into it, complete disclaimer – I am NOT a cosmetologist nor have I had any training on skincare or anything that may fall into that category. These are things I use and do so please take this with a grain of salt. And with that being said… First things first – GOOD MORNING!

Hello sunshine… it’s most likely 8am and I’m anticipating to hit snooze again! Now prior to my heart transplant I was NOT a morning person at all. My bed and I have an all love relationship and I wouldn’t have traded that for the world. But now that I have to be a morning person, I’ve learned to find the good in it. For one, you can get way more things done that day without falling behind. You also have time for breakfast (the most important meal of the day) along with the fact that you can take your time getting ready for work or class!

My skin is so important to me because I’ve always grown up with the mentality that if you take care of your skin now, you won’t have to worry about getting into the routine of it later! So for my face, I use the Panacea’s Aegis Kit… I start with the Daily Facial Cleanser then use Pixi’s Glow Tonic before finishing with Panacea’s Daily Facial Moisturizer. If I plan on being exposed to the sun that day I’ll apply a little bit of their Daily Facial SPF. Now I’ve only used this brand for about 2 months but it’s done wonders to my combination skin! I feel like I have this natural glow that people actually notice. I also feel twice as confident leaving the house with just lip moisturizer on and no makeup. Game changer!

Wearing makeup? For times I do decide to wear highlighter and all the above, I use Lait Confort from Chanel followed by some face wash and moisturizer. You can use this product alone and just use a dry or damp face towel to clean your face but I’m weird and don’t feel completely clean unless I wash my face!

“How are your teeth so white?” I really like to keep things minimal. I use my favorite toothbrush by Quip and Crest 3D White Radiant Mint Whitening toothpaste. Quarterly I’ll whiten my teeth for about 2 weeks but I’m not someone that whitens their teeth everyday with a whitening kit. I find myself doing this periodically if I have a special event coming up or if I just haven’t done it in a couple weeks. When I do whiten my teeth I use White With Style’s whitening kit in the flavor mint!

Fresh out of the shower and so moisturized! I’m obsessing over Vaseline’s Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Body Gel Oil. Why? Because it lasts a very long time and it keeps your skin moisturized ALL DAY! This body gel oil also gives you that glow even in the winter! It’s rather affordable and if body gels or oils aren’t your thing, it comes in a body butter form as well. I like gels and butters more during the cold months because my skin (heels, hands and legs) tend to get dry the fastest! With this product I don’t have to worry about that!

So for the days I actually decide to wear makeup (which tends to be 2-3 days a week), I keep things fresh and natural looking. Manly because I hate the feeling of makeup caked on my face and I’m also just a minimalist at heart. Down below I have listed the products I use on an average Saturday. Most, if not all, the products can be found at department stores such as Nordstrom, Sephora and Ulta. Otherwise you can find them on their direct website!

Face Primer: Givenchy Mister Mat Mattifying Foundation Primer

Concealer: Chanel Le Correcteur in the color 121 Carmel

Setting Powder:  Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil in the color Dark Brown (with clear brow gel to set the brows)

Bronzer: Too Faced Bronzed Peach Melting Powder from the Peaches and Cream Collection

Contour: Bobby Brown Bronzing Powder in the color Deep

Setting Spray: Marc Jacobs Re(cover) Coconut Spray

Mascara: Dior Diorshow

Eyeshadow: (for the days I decide to create a bronzed look) Morphie Nature Glow Eyeshadow Palette

Natural hair don’t care! Ahhh, the question every natural has been DMing me about. What in the hell do I use on my TWA (teeny-weeny afro)?! I alternate different products but right now I’m using the curl line from Moroccan Oil. On days that I don’t use Moroccan Oil I always go back to the Shea Moisture 10-in-1 Renewal System line!

The truth is that it comes down to this… It takes a while to find the right products that work for you! Some people are lucky enough to find them at the age of 17 and others at 44. Take your time and be patient. I used to be the person to spend so much money on products that weren’t even meant for my skin or hair type. The key is to also be persistent and enjoy the process. I also make sure to drink lots of water (6-8 glasses a day) and I take vitamin supplements like vitamin b and biotin. With these above products, healthy diet, prayer and positivity I’ve been able to leave a healthy life – physically, mentally and emotionally. And I pray that you do too! Until next time…

The Magic 3

Hi loves! Welcome or welcome back to Trending Prosperity. It’s been cold lately especially here in the Midwest which means there are a ton of things you’re probably carrying around (gloves, jacket, etc). So I’ve decided to create the utmost simple list of things you should always carry around with you.

With so many beauty products out there it’s hard to know what products you should spend your money on. And with some being priced at an unreasonable price, you wonder if it’s really worth it. I’ve been down the Target isles, in numerous Sephora’s and around several Burberry stores in hopes of finding the perfect products that I can call staples. Whether you’re comfortable spending $5 or $85, I’ve created the top 3 things every lady should always have on her.

1. LIPS

Regardless if it’s below 0 degrees outside or not, it’s crazy important that you keep your lips hydrated. Staying hydrated by drinking water and orange juice is a good way to avoid chapped lips from the inside out – but what are you putting on your lips? I’m currently using Tom Ford’s Hydrating Lip Balm and love it because a little goes a long way. Some products that I’ve used in the past that work amazingly and you should try out are:

– Blistex Soft & Lush Lip Protectant ($3.30)

– Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment ($24)

– Tom Ford Hydrating Lip Balm ($25)

2. SKIN

What you put into your body is just as important as what you put on your body. Keeping your hands moisturized and hydrated is so critical especially during the cold season. The worst thing you can do for your hands is allow them to dry out and ultimately crack. I carry Moroccan Oil’s Hydrating Hand Cream in my work bag and use it religiously. Here are some other lotions that I’ve also tried and find to work really well:

– The Body Shop Hemp Hand ($5)

– Soap & Glory Hand Food ($8)

– L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream ($16)

3. FACE

When you’re constantly on the go, it’s hard to make sure you still look your best by 5 p.m. This is tip is important especially to those that need to look good throughout the day because of their profession. Concealer has and will always be my best friend. While I have pretty good skin I still have my days. I’ve never been one to wear foundation for the simple fact that I don’t necessarily need it and I don’t like the feeling of having it caked on my face. Currently I’m using Burberry’s Cashmere Concealer in the color Chestnut. However, those concealers do wonders:

– NYX Professional Makeup HD ($5)

– Stila All Day Cover Powder Finish Foundation & Concealer ($22)

– NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30)

Again, take everything with a grain of salt. I’m not a beautician or dermatologist by any means. These are just things I’ve found to work for me. They are also things that I find in my car, workout bag, and everywhere else on a day-to-day basis. You know what your lifestyle entails so make your best judgement. Regardless, I hope this helps you and if not, pass it on to a friend. You never know who’s looking for the next best fix. Until next time…

xoxo, B.
