Gucci Loafers: Real vs. Steal

If only we all had $600 at our disposal to spend on this seasons’ must-have shoe. But like most working people, we have bills and other priorities to take care of before we can even think about purchasing pieces like that. And that’s why I’m here to tell you exactly how you can get the ‘to die for’ look for less than half the price.

Just as Stuart Weitzman’s over-the-knee boots are the staple piece in Fall/ Winter to any fashion blogger, the Princetown Gucci loafer is just that for Spring/ Summer. But if we’re getting ready for chunky sweaters and peacoats… why am I talking about last seasons “it” shoe? Because it’s a trend that seems to be going no where and rather finding its way into other seasons. Irina from In Their Closet says, “Personal style bloggers such as Aimee Song (Song of Style), Jessie Bush (We The People), Elizabeth Lee (Stylewich) and Crystalin Da Silva (Crystalin Marie) have all been spotted wearing Gucci Princetown Loafer Mules.” So how exactly do you get their looks without breaking the bank – or getting your electricity shut off, if you will? Finding the right dupes.

A lot of women are (for lack of better words) ashamed of wearing dupes. “If you can’t buy the real thing, then don’t buy it at all.” But honestly dupes are the way to go. I personally only buy the real thing if it’s necessary. I say necessary because I believe in good quality. If I was in the market for Louis Vuitton luggage, I would buy Louis Vuitton luggage and not a ‘dupe’ or knock-off simply because of the quality difference. As far as rocking dupes, I’m all about a good bargain. In reality, a lot of people don’t notice that it’s not the real Gucci cross body, Céline wallet, etc. unless they’re complete label whores – and in that case it’s none of their business anyway.

So where can you get these high priced items for less? Some brands include Steve Madden, Billini, Kensie, ASOS, Windsor Smith, André Assous, Nine West, Merona, Forever 21, and Tony Bianco. Each brand and style ranges between $30 to $200, which is awesome because you’re getting the most bang for your buck.

Feel like you’re walking down 5th Ave just like any well-known fashion blogger even when you’re running errands by pairing your mules with a chunky sweater or cardigan, high-waisted jeans, and your favorite jersey tank top. If you’re like me, keep it classic in all black. I paired both my Gucci loafers and dupes with an oversized cardigan, button down t-shirt dress, and a cross body bag to complete the look.

Never think you can’t get the look you see your favorite Instagram fashionista wearing just because you don’t have four digits in your checking account for fashion disposal. There is always an alternative; it just takes patience to find the right places to shop. It’s no secret we all love luxury goods. Until next time…

xoxo, B.
