Some one asked me the other day if I wanted to move back to NYC or California to be a celebrity stylist and I automatically thought “hell no”. I was flattered that they thought I had such a talent to actually put together cohesive outfits for well-known individuals, but really?
Some one asked me the other day if I wanted to move back to NYC or California to be a celebrity stylist and I automatically thought “hell no”. I was flattered that they thought I had such a talent to actually put together cohesive outfits for well-known individuals, but really? Let’s just take a second to acknowledge the fact that not everyone in the fashion world is going to be or wants to be a stylist.
That’s not to say stylists or personal shoppers have less talents then the rest of us. If we’re being honest, they have the hardest jobs right behind those that determine trends and must-have colors for your wardrobe. But really… me a stylist?! That’s probably the most I’ve ever been flabbergasted. A part from when I attempt to look good or no I’ll be in photos that will be posted on Facebook later that week, I’m usually in Chucks, boyfriend jeans, and some old sweatshirt I probably stole out of my dads closet. Comfort first ladies.
However, I do know a thing or two when it comes to pairing ying and yang together. While knowing your fabrics is just as important as pronouncing Givenchy correctly, it’s a must that we address the fact that you need to correlate your colors. Ann Wintour always says that it’s a big “no-no” when you wear all of the same color. And while I agree with that (unless it’s all black of course), it’s okay to have a color that maybe… over powers a little bit?
Polished nudes. The kryptonite to spring 2017. Nudes this season will become your biggest weakness if they haven’t already. I know it feels like fashion trends and colors are the same every season, and while it’s true fashion is the queen of recycling it’s self, nudes this spring are something you don’t want to pass up. Trend forecaster from The Fashion Tag says, “Nude colors have a certain grown-up quality to them, especially when worn with bold lips, stiletto heels, and expensive looking accessories. Picture this: nude leather pencil skirt, silky nude blouse, gold choker, nude pumps and bold lips. Cocktail after work perfect, office hours perfect.”
Light pinks and beige shades look clean, fresh, refined and quite luxurious. The mix of all nude colours holds a certain femininity to it and a classy minimalism with tones of glamour or bohemian vibes, while being kind of understated. A nude heel is something every girl needs in her closet (just like your little black dress). Pair those bad boys with slim-fit jeans, a pink or nude blouse and simple makeup. And always remember that if you are one that likes statement jewelry keep the makeup minimal. And if you’re a minimalist with the jewelry, try a bold lip. You got this! Until next time…
