Nike, Lululemon, and all the rest have officially been accepted off the yoga mat and into your nearest coffee shop. Because lets face it, sportswear has evolved and it is being worn everyday just like your favorite pair of denim jeans and ballerina flats! This trend started with a dress and sneakers to a full-blown I’m on my way to cycling look. So if you’re lazy and don’t want to put together a “cute” outfit or even if you just like the comfort of being in dri-fit clothes, this trend and look is perfect for you.
While the whole idea behind wearing sportswear outside of the gym is cool and rather convenient, it’s important that you stay fashionable – hence the lux part. It’s all about having an effortless look but still having sex appeal. Over the past couple years, Adidas has rebranded themselves and taken back their place on the throne. The 90’s track pants and classic Gazelle sneakers have found their way back on Glamour and Cosmopolitans webpage.
Now if you’re in the loop of fabrics that fashionistas have been obsessing over, you know that suede has been one of many behind mesh the past 2 seasons! I decided to pair this track look with a Prussian blue suede jacket that I thrifted (yes, I love thrift stores just as much as Bergdof Goodman). It adds color and texture to this rather bland gym look. I’m assuming you don’t want to carry a gym bag to drinks with your girlfriends so pair your lux sportswear look with a simple, yet classic, cross-body. I’ve been loving my black MeDusa Studio envelope clutch. It works great as a clutch or cross-body and the best part is it’s vegan.
So you have the perfect look planned out in your head. You’re going to wear you Lululemon leggings you wear to hot yoga with your Fenty Puma’s, a leather jacket, and a loose fitting tank… but what about your makeup? Don’t over do it. The worst thing you can do is look like you’re on your way to prom. Keep things simple and remember the goal is look effortless yet flawless. Play around with your sportswear collection and you’ll be surprised what chic outfits you can come up with. Until next time…
