A Fresh Way To Wear Black This Spring
The color black: Every blogger knows it and we love it with all our heart. While dressing in a color like yellow head-to-toe may not be on InStyle Magazines’ style page, black will always be your best friend and help you channel your inner French girl.
The color black: Every blogger knows it and we love it with all our heart. While dressing in a color like yellow head-to-toe may not be on InStyle Magazines’ style page, black will always be your best friend and help you channel your inner French girl. I think the best part about this spring look is that there is little thought that goes into it when it comes to pairing with complementary colors and “does periwinkle go with” x, y, and z. With that being said, take advantage of its reliability and try something different this spring when you reach for your favorite leather jacket or LBD. ‘Tis the season to break out of your winter rut with the help of the most fashionable color out there.
A good way to play with this trend is to mix it up with print and pops of color here and there. Or if you’re like me, go for the ‘ol glory hole and wear all black. This is something I tend to do 4 out of the 7 days a week. I’m not sure if it’s because Manhattan changed 85% of my wardrobe, if it’s extremely easy to create outfits, or if it’s because I genuinely like all black. For the sake of this conversation, we’ll go with the thought of all three testimonies. Plus lets face it, black goes with everything. And if you don’t believe me take it from Glamour Magazine with these tips down below.
- 1. Prints – Keep you look fairly monochromatic, but add a bit of extra dimension by styling you solid black pieces with a black and white print, be it ditsy floral or bolder color blocking.
- 2. Add a statement jacket – An all black look can be seen as a chic blank canvas, so don’t be shy when it comes to adding a piece that’s a little more bold, like a statement jacket.
- 3. Go sheer – I love this look because it screams sex appeal. Try a sheer top in black to retain the feeling of elegance and sophistication. Pair it with black styling pieces to keep your look understated.
- 4. Ladylike silhouettes – Balance the edgy nature of the dark color with midi hemlines that nip at the waist and feminine heels that pop.
In fall and winter, fashion magazines constantly tell us that black can be worn year-round. But as the temperatures rise, a lot of us always see a decline in black pieces. Why? Embrace your inner chic regardless if Anna Wintour says she hates when people wear all black. Until next time…
