ATTENTION ALL, IT IS CUFFING SEASON. September 22nd made it socially acceptable to lounge around the house in baggy clothes with a cup of hot chocolate and the “cuddle buddy” of your choice.
ATTENTION ALL, IT IS CUFFING SEASON. September 22nd made it socially acceptable to lounge around the house in baggy clothes with a cup of hot chocolate and the “cuddle buddy” of your choice. And while I’m not very much into watching Netflix with a guy that probably isn’t really paying attention to the movie because he’s too busy texting the next girl he plans on hooking up with, I am all for chic basic pieces that I can mix n’ match all season – monochromatic.
For all that know me personally; you know I live in the heart of New York (Manhattan). To put things in perspective, I’m on the corner of 34th and 9th… right across the street from Madison Square Garden. With that being said, I take every advantage I get when it comes to getting out of the city. Ahhh, Dumbo Brooklyn! What was once known as the heart of the “hood” is now home to tourists (go figure), Pinterest worthy coffee shops, and bikers that don’t seem to care about traffic laws. But most importantly Dumbo Brooklyn holds a very specific boutique called Ad Astra Studio.
145 Front Street, Brooklyn, is where you’ll find one of a kind garments and jewelry. Now I don’t say “one of a kind” to be cliché, I really mean it! Owner of Ad Astra Studio, Sara Frohlich, has an educational background in merchandising as well as working with copper – WHAT? Yeah… that’s right, I said it. Most (if not all) jewelry pieces at Ad Astra Studio are made from cooper and semi-precious gemstones in their warehouse. This is only one of the many reasons I recommend shopping at this creative hotspot.
A part from designing and manufacturing their own jewelry, Ad Astra Studio provides a full experience for all shoppers. They are what most would call a “one stop shop”. From jewelry, to candles, and headbands – they have it all! But what’s really important is their clothing selection. Now I know you’re going to scroll to the bottom, realize I’m wearing shorts and say, “umm… it’s fall”. And? So many girls are so quick to put their summer clothes away until next year, but just relax. Allow me and fashion blogger Melody to teach you all how to bring summer essentials into your fall wardrobe.
First and foremost, suede is sooo in right now – take advantage. When rummaging through the endless options at Ad Astra Studio I picked up a pair of suede shorts and never looked back. I paired it with their cold shoulder blouse (for sex appeal) and Kendall Jenner inspired shades. I’ve been a sucker for backpacks since rolling backpacks were a thing way back in 1st grade, so you won’t catch me dead without one. The killer red bottoms add texture to this simple, yet elegant look.
So without further adieu, start worrying about what really matters. I know you want to be cooped up in your bed under the covers with bae. But truth is, when bae decides to be dumb like the rest of the male population and leave you… your closet will still look like sh*t. So not only will you be lonely, but you’ll have awful clothes to choose from when you finally decide to put that tub of ice cream down and go out with your friends. Stay educated… you don’t need him; you need knee high boots and sweaters. Until next time…
