WELCOME TO BROOKLYN
Let’s face it, the saying “Only in New York” just doesn’t mean what it used to. Chain stores line Broadway and Starbucks is more ubiquitous than the Anthora coffee cup ever was.
Let’s face it, the saying “Only in New York” just doesn’t mean what it used to. Chain stores line Broadway and Starbucks is more ubiquitous than the Anthora coffee cup ever was. And despite the always present fear that the mallification of Manhattan will take over Brooklyn as well, it hasn’t happened quite yet. Brooklyn might get mocked for the fact that everything is artisanal, but the truth is, that’s part of what makes Brooklyn special. There are experiences you can have here that you just can’t have anywhere else.
Which brings me to the topic of bringing the east coast to little ‘ol Iowa. So many artists and local business owners are bringing things you see over in the east coast, Brooklyn to be exact, to smaller cities hoping for the same look and feel. Although Des Monies Iowa might not have antique rollercoasters and Coney Island like Brooklyn does, there are things that are unique and different about this small city. So next time you’re in Des Monies, or even a small city at that, take note of things they have that you probably don’t have back at home. Those places are the best places to make memories, plus if it’s a mom n’ pap shop they’ll have good deals. Until next time…
