Sneakerheads Take Summer 2016:

A sneaker head is one who is willing to camp out and face lines that wind around blocks for a pair of lifetime exclusives. One on the verge of bankruptcy because the addiction is THAT serious. Misunderstood by non sneakerheads as wasting money and are constantly told that they will get over it or that “it’s just a phase”.

One who is likely to kill you if you step on their kicks and is continuously running out of closet space. It is not a hobby but a lifestyle that most do not understand.

As you scroll through your Instagram feed this summer, you’ll probably notice your timeline is filled with sneakerheads wearing kicks you didn’t even know were out yet. And although it’s not too difficult to cop the obvious hyped-up essentials for your wardrobe, it is very easy to look like any other sneakerhead on the ‘net’. Whether you’re wearing the latest from Kanye’s Yeezy Season 1 or top fashion houses such as Balenciaga, spending ridiculous amounts of money on kicks does NOT guarantee you’re a stylish person by any means. It’s one thing to have a great pair of sneakers, but it takes the special touch to make them complement the rest of your ‘fit. Sneakerhead Logan Molina says,”unique sneakers that sneakerheads wear cost more than the outfit the guy next time them is trying to pull off. And ‘sorry’ will never remove the scuff that the clumsy guy at the bar accidentally placed on your right toe.”

So what is the right or wrong way to wear sneakers then? Regardless if you’re a full blown sneakerhead that has endless shoe boxes filled with exclusives or if you just bought your first pair of kicks for the summer, it is important to stay 100% authentic to yourself. It is so easy to copy the well known sneakerhead that continuously gets thousands of likes on Instagram. But is that really you? I am a big adamant for pulling inspirations from different sources or icons but I make sure to put my own twist on it. Whatever you decide to pair your kicks with, make sure it’s all you. Until next time…

xoxo, B.
